Ancient Greek ruins and mythology, fortified medieval towns, vineyard hopping, and beach relaxation, on mainland Greece’s southernmost peninsula.

Connected to mainland Greece by a tiny isthmus near Corinth, the Peloponnese is a mountainous peninsula that’s steeped in legend. It’s from here that the Argonauts set sail, and it’s where Heracles (widely known as Hercules) slayed the Nemean lion. Combining sandy beaches, historic towns, a thriving wine region, and some of Greece’s most revered archaeological sites, it’s a place our specialists love to explore. They’ll use their first-hand knowledge to help you decide what to experience on your Peloponnese holiday.

Inland lie six UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including Olympia and the acoustically perfect theatre at Epidavros. Nearby, the ruins of Mycenae highlight the role the Mycenean people played in this area of Greece. You can also tour the Byzantine castle of Mystras with a guide, who’ll tell you more about its historical importance through the centuries.

Spreading across the heart of the Peloponnese is the long-established Nemean wine region, where you can hop between wineries tucked among vine-covered hills.

Along the south coast, you can join a local guide for a private walking tour of Monemvasia, a fortified medieval town set on its own tiny island. Or, head west to the Messinia region, where age-old coastal villages offer soft-sand beaches. This is also where you’ll find Costa Navarino, which boasts luxe resorts and seafront restaurants where you can toast the sunset.
